Dataset description

The theme shows drinking water areas in the categories: • Areas with special drinking water interests (OSD) • Areas with drinking water interests (OD) Areas with Special Drinking Water Interests are dynamic sizes that can be adjusted in diffusion as the basis of knowledge improves as the tax-funded groundwater mapping provides new knowledge about the location and status of groundwater bodies. The OSD areas were originally designated on the basis of the following 4 criteria: 1. Future drinking water needs need to be met by the areas. 2. The quality of groundwater should be the best possible. 3. Natural protection must be the best possible. 4. The existing abstraction structure must be preserved, as well as agglomerations with a large number of sources of pollution to be omitted.Agglomerations with drinking water interests (OD) are areas where there is good quality groundwater that can be used for drinking water purposes but which are predominantly local for smaller waterworks and industries. There has previously been a delimitation of areas with limited drinking water interests (OBD), but these are no longer identified. Historical data can be obtained from groundwater mapping, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.
