Dataset description

The theme shows the intensity of fishing with bottom trolling nets in squares of 100x100m from Danish vessels. The intensity tells how many times the seabed in the individual squares has been affected by fishing gear in 2018. For values below 1, the intensity can be interpreted as the proportion of the square that has been affected during the period. The map has been prepared using different types of position data (VMS, AIS, Black Box) with varying precision and recording efficiency. The intensity is calculated as a “swept area ratio” (SAR) by dividing the total gear impact of the period into each square (footprint measured in m²) by the area of the square (10 000 m²).
