Dataset description

Before establishing the Watercourse Reference, authorities have used different methods to place watercourse data and on different lines, which may be of different quality. There has been a need for one data set with geographical river lines where all authorities connect data. This allows for the exchange of overall river data across organisations (authorities and private actors (e.g. contractor, construction projects, etc.) The watercourse reference database contains a coupling table that keeps track of which parts of the river centers are included in which river references. Using the coupling table, the geometry of the watercourse reference can be calculated at any time. Using watercourse references also uses the latest, current geometry for watercourse centers in GeoDanmark.
