Dataset description

This important piece of research into Business to Consumer (B2C) e-commerce in the European Union was conducted in autumn 2003 and involved face-to-face interviews with 16,207 EU15 citizens. It is the first major survey of its kind and focuses on this new and growing way of distributing goods and services - a purchasing channel that has now been used by 16% of EU citizens. This report first assesses EU citizens’ awareness of fraud, tax evasion, money laundering and counterfeiting in their home country, the rest of the EU, candidate countries and then the rest of the world. Respondents were also asked to select the particular element of fraud that most concerned them. A list of illegal activities ranging from counterfeiting and pirated software to tax evasion and misappropriation of aids and grants was reviewed. Media coverage of all aspects of defrauding the European Union and its budget was discussed and respondents asked to assess how well the media kept them informed on this issue. #####The results by volumes are distributed as follows: * Volume A: Countries * Volume AA: Groups of countries * Volume A' (AP): Trends * Volume AA' (AAP): Trends of groups of countries * Volume B: EU/socio-demographics * Volume B' (BP) : Trends of EU/ socio-demographics * Volume C: Country/socio-demographics ---- Researchers may also contact GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences: [https://www.gesis.org/eurobarometer](https://www.gesis.org/eurobarometer)
