Dataset description

The European Commission’s Justice, Freedom and Security Directorate-General commissioned a poll on EU citizens’ views on the need for and possibilities of sectoral cooperation in the areas of witness protection, identity fraud and tax fraud relating to transborder organised crime. Interviews were conducted face-to-face in people’s homes, in their national language, between June 7 and July 12, 2006. The principal objective of this analysis is to explore citizens’ perception of the current state of witness protection, identity fraud and tax fraud in the European Union, as well as their attitude towards the potential role of the European Union in these fields. For each theme addressed, our analysis2 looks at the: • European Union as a whole; • Individual countries; • Socio-demographic variables. #####The results by volumes are distributed as follows: * Volume A: Countries * Volume AA: Groups of countries * Volume A' (AP): Trends * Volume AA' (AAP): Trends of groups of countries * Volume B: EU/socio-demographics * Volume B' (BP) : Trends of EU/ socio-demographics * Volume C: Country/socio-demographics ---- Researchers may also contact GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences: [https://www.gesis.org/eurobarometer](https://www.gesis.org/eurobarometer)
