Dataset description

The Education and Culture Directorate-General of the European Commission has been keen to measure public opinion on culture and values within Europe, in order to ascertain both their opinions and behaviour in this area. As such, the current survey forms an important initial insight into the ways in which Citizens think and behave in this area, as well as providing benchmarks against which future evolutions can be tracked. The survey was carried out by TNS Opinion & Social, interviewing 26755 citizens in the 27 Member States. Interviewing was conducted between the 14th of February and the 18th of March 2007. This agenda has three objectives: ● The promotion of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue in Europe ● The promotion of the culture as a driver of innovation and creative endeavour, bearing in mind the Lisbon Strategy for jobs and growth ● The placing of culture as a main element of the EU’s external relations, in order to foster understanding with other parts of the world. #####The results by volumes are distributed as follows: * Volume A: Countries * Volume AA: Groups of countries * Volume A' (AP): Trends * Volume AA' (AAP): Trends of groups of countries * Volume B: EU/socio-demographics * Volume B' (BP) : Trends of EU/ socio-demographics * Volume C: Country/socio-demographics ---- Researchers may also contact GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences: [https://www.gesis.org/eurobarometer](https://www.gesis.org/eurobarometer)
