Here you can find comparative information on children in criminal judicial proceedings - comparative information on custody pre-trial and other forms of deprivation of liberty prior to trial for all the EU28 Member States on the basis of information collected from national and international databases. The data is available on e.g: -Existence of alternatives to pre-trial detention for all children above the MACR; - Statutory provision on the right of child (suspected) offenders to contact their parents or a person whom they trust whenever they are apprehended by the police; - Percentage of children who were given the opportunity to contact their parents before being questioned by the police; - Percentage of children who were interviewed by the police in the presence of a parent or trusted person; - Legal obligation to record all interviews with a child and potentially use such interviews as evidence in criminal proceedings; - Percentage of children whose interview with the police was audio or vide-recorded; - Statutory provision prohibiting incommunicado detention for children; - Maximum number of hours per child (suspected) offenders spent in police custody without a parent or trusted person being informed; - Legal obligation to make pre-trial detention a measure of last resort and for the shortest appropriate period of time; - Percentage of child (suspected) offenders on bail.
