Administrative boundaries (data type 128 of the road register)

The data cover the road network maintained by the Finnish Transport Agency. The boundaries of administrative areas are often marked with roadside border signs. If the boundary is not perpendicular to the road, the middle of the border signs shall be used as the road address. If there are no border references, the intersection of the border and the road is determined using maps or similar data. In this case, the road address of the border shall be the intersection of the border with the centreline of the road. The boundary along the centre line of the road is invented in such a way that half of the length of the “split” road section enters both municipalities. The boundaries of counties and counties always coincide with the boundaries of municipalities.
