Dataset description

**[EN]** The annual opacity sample is made from all observations of the summer season from the opacity observations of the Sentinel-2 satellites MSI instruments. The observations are calculated on a pixel-by-pixel basis. There are 60 m cross-country separation capabilities since 2015. The period used for the compilation shall be based on the estimated status period for each water basin. In Finnish lakes and coastal waters, the period is in line with the EU Water Framework Directive, which is in line with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive on the high seas. On the coast, the period is between 1 July and 7 September in lakes and high seas, from 1 June to 30 September. Purpose: Monitoring the water quality of Finnish sea basins and lakes. The material is part of SYKE’s open data (CC BY 4.0). *** **[En]** Yearly turbidity composite is made from all observations for the summer months obtained from Sentinel-2 MSI instrument interpreted as turbidity. Media turbidity is calculated from the observations. The composites are calculated with a spatial resolution of 60 m from 2015 onwards. The period used for the aggregate of summerly observations follows the status assessment periods accounted in the directive reporting (Water Framework Directive and Marine Strategy Directive). In the Finnish coastal waters, the period is from 1st of July to 7th of September each year. In Finnish lakes and the open sea the period covers observations between 1.6. and 30.9. *** **WMS server/WMS service endpoint**: https://geoserver2.ymparisto.fi/geoserver/eo/wms **WMS level/WMS layer**: EO_HR_WQ_S2_opensea-lakes-[YEAR]0601-[YEAR]0930_coast-[YEAR]0701-[YEAR]0907_turb-p50_m *** **[EN]** The compositions are calculated from all observations of the Sentinel-2 satellite during the summer season. *** **[En]** Composites have been calculated from all observations of the Sentinel-2 satellite for the summer season.
