Dataset description

The 1:100 000-scale bedrock map data contains data produced by the Geological Survey of Finland in 1948-2007 for the needs of mineral raw material resources, society’s aggregate maintenance and scientific research. This dataset contains data on rock types in the form of area boundaries, rock observations and drilling points, as well as essential tectonic observations, lithological primary structures, ore minerals and metamorphic index minerals. The area of some 1:100,000 map sheets shows not only rock type information, but also stratigraphy. Most of the maps are also accompanied by an explanatory book.
