Dataset description

The depth data for inland waters (lakes, rivers) is mainly based on the depth scans made by the environmental administration. The depth curves and areas derived from the trust point data are derived from SYKE, as well as the maximum depth point data of the lake. The sounding and maximum depth points of the lakes and the depth areas have been combined with physiography data from the lake register maintained by SYKE. These depth curves will be sent to the National Land Survey of Finland, where they will be stored as part of the terrain database and will be published on the terrain maps. The material is part of SYKE’s open data (CC BY 4.0). The data product INSPIRE has been published. For more information: https://geoportal.ymparisto.fi/meta/julkinen/dokumentit/Syvyys.pdf The Lake and River Depth Profiles dataset includes information on depth profiles of lakes and rivers and is mainly based on the depth measurements done by the national environmental administration. The bathymetric lines and the depth areas are produced from separate measurement point information. Bathymetric information and the maximum depth points have also information on Physiography from the lake database “Järvirekisteri” maintained by SYKE. These bathymetric lines are delivered for The National Land Survey of Finland where they are combined with the base map dataset and published as maps. The depth data for inland waters (lakes, rivers) is mainly based on the depth scans made by the environmental administration. The depth curves and areas and the maximum depth point of the lake are derived from the trust point. The starting material for Lammin Pääjärvi is the depth map produced by Lammi’s biological station. Production of the material has started in 1998. Each year, usually in autumn, the data is supplemented for the areas created during the summer of the previous year.
