Dataset description

Apartments in the Helsinki region by tenure criterion and type of apartment as of 31 December 2003. ##Regional Limits The Helsinki region consists of four municipalities in the Helsinki metropolitan area Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen and ten framework municipalities: Hyvinkää, Järvenpää, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Sipoo Tuusula and Vihti. The total levels in the table are the Helsinki metropolitan area, the framework area, the Helsinki region, Uusimaa and Finland. The regional division corresponds to the situation on 1 January of the year following the statistical year. At the beginning of 2009, the south-western part of the municipality of Sipoo (now Östersundom area) and the so-called Västerkulla wedge area from the city of Vantaa were incorporated into Helsinki. This should be taken into account when comparing the figures for the statistical years 2002-2007 with the 2008 figures for Helsinki, Vantaa and Sipoo, as well as the sum levels in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and the framework area. The Helsinki region is a housing and labour market area. ##Target and cropping An apartment, i.e. a residential unit, means a unit with a kitchen, kitchenette or kitchenette, consisting of one or more rooms, intended for year-round housing, with a floor area of at least 7 m². The room is a space with a window with a floor area of at least 7 square meters and an average height of at least 2 metres. Hallways, vilpola, sleeping alcoves or anything like this are not considered a room. The number of rooms usually does not include kitchen (kitchen = k, kitchenette = month, cooking area = kt). ##Categories CRITERION OF MANAGEMENT: In the statistics, dwellings are grouped according to tenure criteria as follows: the owner of the dwelling owns the house, the owner owns housing shares, arava rental apartment, an interest subsidy rental apartment, other rental dwelling, right-of-occupancy dwelling and other (e.g. accusation, kinship) or an unknown basis of tenure. Since 2009, arava and interest-subsidy rental dwellings have taken into account free-of-charge dwellings, which has an impact on the number of rental apartments for arava and interest subsidy rentals and increasing the number of non-subsidised (other) rental dwellings. The number of owner-occupied dwellings is irrelevant. There are no data on Arava rental apartments in Åland in 2009. The production system of statistics on construction and housing conditions has been revised since the statistical reference year 2005. The information on the owner of the building has been prioritised in the new production system in relation to the information on the basis of ownership coming from the notification of the move. This effect is reflected in the 2005 statistics, especially in the categories Other rental dwellings (i.e. non-arva and interest subsidy rental housing) and Owns in the number of the house. In other words, part of the annual change in the tenure of dwellings is due to more detailed processing rules, not a real change. The number of rental dwellings in the statistics for 2005 is approximately 24,700 fewer than it would have been according to previous treatment (these dwellings are now classified as “Own houses”). Other or unknown tenure includes, for example, dwellings without permanent residents, which have more than 200,000 dwellings at the level of the whole country. The tenure data is mainly obtained only for residential dwellings. In the statistics on housing stock, the tenure criterion is defined mainly only for permanently inhabited dwellings. The type of apartment includes categories: — 1h+month/kt — 1h+k — 2h+month/kt 2h+k — 3h+k/month/kt — 4h+k/month/kt — 5h+k/month/kt — 6h+k/month/kt — 7h+k/month/kt — number of rooms unknown
