GTK has conducted a geophysical flight survey as a low-flight survey in 1972-2007. The flight altitude has been between 30 and 40 metres and the distance between the flight lines was mainly 200 metres. The flight lines run from north to south or east to west, based on the main geological orientation, and the distance between measurement points on flight lines has been 6-50 metres. The measured geophysical quantities are: the Earth’s magnetic field, the Earth’s electromagnetic field and natural gamma radiation.
Magnetic measurements measure the strength of the Earth’s magnetic field (density of the magnetic particle) and the measurement result is the total or total magnet field strength. Measurements have been made until 1991 with 1-3 proton magnetometers and 1-2 cesium magnetometers since 1991. Most of the land area has been flown using two magnetometers.
