Good and cohesive fields in Pirkanmaa 2014

The good and homogeneous field areas of Pirkanmaa were carried out in 2014 as part of the preparation of the 2040 regional plan. The arable areas defined in the report are based on analyses of the shape and size of the field. In addition, the drainage status of arable areas and data on topsoil species were examined. Good and homogeneous arable areas were based on at least 10 hectares of arable parcels at a distance of not more than 300 metres from each other and on arable parcels of at least 100 hectares. According to the survey, there are 203 good and homogeneous fields in Pirkanmaa and they correspond to 76 % of the region’s total arable land. For example, the data is suitable for general land use planning tasks. In order to resolve detailed questions, it is necessary to use more detailed data.
