Dataset description

The light shadow image of Helsinki is a raster material that visualises the altitude variations of the terrain. The data was produced from the 2017 “ground dot” laser scanning material. The material contains an interpolated elevation model, i.e. a diagonal shade of light as a raster image. Four different images have been produced. All raster images have a terrain resolution of 50 cm/pixel. The pixel values of the raster are 8-bit grayscale or 24-bit RGB color image. In TIFF images, terrain shapes have been programmed enhanced by three different “sunlight orientations”: 1. 45 degrees, Sun’s direction northeast 2. 315 degrees, Sun direction from northwest 3. Six directions illuminated image produced at 60 °C intervals 4. Six-way illuminated image at 60 degrees intervals, colored version ** Coordinate system(s):** — ETRS-GK25 (EPSG:3879). Maintenance coordinates. The data can also be projected in other coordinate systems. Other possible coordinate systems can be found in the GetCapabilities document of the interface service. **Addresses of interface services:** — WMS interface: [https://kartta.hel.fi/ws/geoserver/avoindata/wms](https://kartta.hel.fi/ws/geoserver/avoindata/wms?request=getCapabilities) **WMS levels** — Vinolightshadow_2017_HS_45_05m — Vinolightshadow_2017_HS_315_05m — Vinolightshadow_2017_MDHS_05m — Vinolightshadow_2017_MDHS_varipinta_05m The administrator: City of Helsinki, Urban Environment Division, Services and permits, City metering services
