Helsinki: Unemployed persons and unemployment rate by sex 31.12.2000—

The unemployed in Helsinki and the unemployment rate by sex since 31 December 2000. Unemployed persons are defined on the basis of the job-seeker register of the Ministry of Labour. The unemployment rate in the region is the percentage of the unemployed in the labour force. The population is divided according to the main activity among those in the labour force and those who are inactive. These groups can be further subdivided into sub-groups. The labour force includes both the employed and the unemployed. The classification is based on data on a person’s activities in the last week of the year. Information on the main activity is based on data obtained from different registers. Within the labour force, the reasoning of the unemployed has been made before the inference of employed persons. Encryption criteria: The statistics contain all unemployment data for areas whose population is less than 100 persons. In addition, unemployment data in areas where fewer than 5 unemployed people live (both genders or men/women) are encrypted.
