Metadata vocabulary

The metadata vocabulary contains the terms and expressions required for the description of the materials. The vocabulary is also suitable for selecting headings that appear in user interfaces. The glossary is structured for the entity-relation structure defined by the RDA text and the FRBR conceptual model. The use of vocabulary terms consolidates the vocabulary of descriptive metadata and at the same time harmonises the description to promote the effectiveness of data retrieval. The purpose of the vocabulary is also to facilitate the production of metadata by compiling the vocabulary and expressions needed for the description and to clarify the related concepts. The vocabulary contains terms and expressions according to both ISBD and RDA descriptive rules. The terms and terms used only in one of the two rules are indicated separately. The vocabulary does not contain vocabulary describing the subject of the work, e.g. descriptors.
