Dataset description
The Population Information System lists the names of the most popular first names by year of birth (1969-2019) and by municipality. For each municipality, there is one of the most popular female names and one of the most popular male names given to the child as the first name each year. The list also includes the number of instances per municipality of these most popular names. For data protection reasons, the first names of which are less than ten copies are not included in the lists. For some municipalities, information on the most popular name may be missing for certain years, and the reason is that the name has received less than ten people.
The first name material has been divided into male and female names according to how the names appear in the Population Information System for persons of different sexes.
