Dataset description

National nature conservation programmes are decisions of principle approved by the Government. Conservation programmes are largely indicatively delimited and each site is definitively delimited on the ground at the time when the nature reserve is established. The protection programme site database is in line with the cross-sectional situation, i.e. it contains the demarcations in accordance with the respective decision. Sites will not be removed from the material, although protected areas as such will be established. The material includes the following sets of protection programmes: 1. Amo Old Forest Protection Programmes: 1.1. Programme for the protection of old forests in Southern Finland. Government decision in principle of 3 June 1993, sites on state lands. 1.2. Supplementary programme for old forests in Southern Finland. The material contains objects located in both state and private countries. The sites on State land were approved for the conservation programme on 7 December 1995 and the protected sites on private land were approved on 27 June 1996 under the old forest protection programme in Northern Finland. 1.3. Programme for the protection of old forests in Northern Finland. Government decision in principle 27.6.1996, destinations on state lands. 2. HSO Harju Protection Programme. Decision of the Government of Principles 3.5.1984 3. LHO groves protection programme. Decision of the Government in principle of 13 April 1989 4. LVO bird water protection programme*. SSO Soide Protection Programme.Government decision in principle 26.3.1981 * The conditional areas included in the bird water protection programme are not included in the spatial data set, as the Government’s decision in principle did not contain maps of the demarcation of conditional areas. The material is part of SYKE’s open data (CC BY 4.0). Purpose: The material has been created for the use of environmental management to support the management of information on nature reserves. For more information: https://geoportal.ymparisto.fi/meta/julkinen/dokumentit/LuonnonsuojeluOhjelmaAlueet.pdf The material is in line with the cross-sectional situation, it contains the limits set out in the respective Government Decision on the Protection Programme. The demarcation has been digitised from the VN’s decision maps between 1992 and 1998. Since then, individual corrections have been made to the file. When using the material, it should be borne in mind that the material contains partly overlapping objects, is not legally binding and contains objects digitised at different times and in environments. The data does not contain data on Åland.
