Dataset description

The material publication produced in a joint project between the occupational safety and health authorities and the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety is the first open data publication of occupational safety and health supervision. The material covers inspections from 2017 to 2020, and the total number of workplace inspections in the dataset is almost 90,000. There are almost 38 000 registered employers and more than 63,000 jobs. Publishing the material to the Work Life Information service is part of the plan for the publication of open data by occupational safety and health supervision. Open data is based on the accepted principles of open administration, information sharing, interoperability and sharing. The principles for opening up information have been approved in the Government Decision on improving the availability of public sector digital datasets and promoting the re-use of public sector data (3.3.2011). What the metrics represent The data consists of the monitoring data of the 2017-2020 labour inspections. The metrics make it possible to compare the number of cases checked in connection with labour inspections by industry and category, and in addition, the metrics provide information on the legality of the inspected cases. If the matter to be inspected is not in legal condition at the workplace, the labour inspector shall issue an obligation to do so. The analysis page explains in more detail what the different obligations mean.
