Population density (data type 233)

The data cover the road network maintained by the Finnish Transport Agency. The data is produced centrally by VTT using the housing data of the building and apartment register. The population density is calculated using the spatial data program for all roads. For the purpose of calculating the road network, from the beginning of each road section, the road network shall be divided into periods of 100 metres. At each end of the road cycle, the population density is calculated within a radius of 399 m, i.e. half a square kilometre. The population density of the 100 m road period shall be the average of the population density at its ends. Values of less than 15 inhabitants/km² are not entered in the road register for data protection reasons.
