Dataset description

The data contains a population forecast per municipality for each municipality in the framework area of the Helsinki region. The frame area of the Helsinki region consists of Hyvinkää, Järvenpää, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Sipoo, Tuusula and Vihti. Source of information: [Statistics Centre, StatFin](http://tilastokeskus.fi/til/vaenn/) Description of the ##method The population projection reflects the future demographic trends. The population forecasting method used by Statistics Finland is a so-called demographic component model, in which the future number and structure of the population is calculated using the birth rate, mortality and migration coefficients of age groups. The coefficients have been calculated on the basis of demographic trends in recent years. The forecast did not seek to assess the impact of economic, social, regional policy, etc. on demographic developments. Statistics Finland’s population forecast is a demographic trend calculation, in which demographic trends are assumed to continue as in recent years. The forecast populations are classified as 1-year-olds. ##Data collection methods The population statistics in Finland are based on the Population Information System of the Population Register Centre maintained by the Local Register Office. The Population Register Centre transmits data on population changes to Statistics Finland. In Statistics Finland’s population forecast, the future number and structure of the population are calculated using fertility, mortality and migration coefficients. The coefficients are calculated from the final population change statistics. More detailed information on the methods used to compile the forecast can be found in the population forecast quality report on the home page of the statistics. The population forecast has been made every three years. Population projections are prepared and published in the autumn. — http://tilastokeskus.fi/meta/til/vaenn.html — http://tilastokeskus.fi/til/vaenn/kas.html — http://tilastokeskus.fi/til/vaenn/men.html — http://tilastokeskus.fi/til/vaenn/laa
