Population of Vantaa by main activity, sex and age as of 31 December 2000. Contains information on the main activities of the population living in the municipality by sex and age. ##Regional Limits Territorial boundaries according to the district division of Vantaa. ##Target and cropping The concept of ‘principal activity’ describes the nature of a person’s economic activity.The population is divided according to the main activity among those in the labour force and those who are inactive. These groups can be further subdivided into sub-groups. The classification is based on data on a person’s activities in the last week of the year.Information on the main activity is based on data obtained from different registers. Participation in the labour force is prioritised in the reasoning of the main activity. Within the labour force, the reasoning of the unemployed has been made before the inference of the employed. The information on employment is based on pension insurance data obtained from different registers.Unemployed persons are defined on the basis of the job-seeker register of the Ministry of Labour. Group Others are made up of persons who are inactive and do not belong to the following categories:0-14 years of age, students or schoolchildren, conscripts or non-military servants, pensioners. Occupational status describes the position of employed persons in working life. Employed persons can be divided into wage and salary earners and entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs cannot be divided into employers and lone entrepreneurs. Group Entrepreneurs also include those family members who work as non-employees in the company. The information about the occupational status is based on the person’s pension insurance data and the amount of salary and entrepreneurial income.
