The data contains modelled deposits of flood forests and forest lakes that are significant for diversity. Sites can be taken into account in conservation programmes, natural management of valuable habitats and water management planning.
Potential sites have been sought in areas where flood risk maps produced in SYKE are available.
The data show the probability of a potential target occurring in three categories: large, medium or small. The material is raster (8 m x 8 m).
The sites typical of flood forests and forest ice are searched on the basis of trees, growing grounds, land use. The interpretation is based on the processing and aggregation of spatial data and remote sensing data. The project uses a two-stage model. Initially, with the help of experts, the so-called decision-making aid is used to demarcate areas from flooded areas that are potential flood forests or forest spots. The machine learning algorithm, in turn, prioritises the areas defined above based on the probability of the occurrence of flood forests or forest spots.

The material is part of SYKE’s open data (CC BY 4.0).
The sites were identified by combining the following themes in flood risk areas:
—Probability of floods and trees
—Influence (1/2-1/50 years)
—Length (> 5 m)
Non-coniferous wood (>=20 %)
Land use
—Built area
—Current and former fields (time series 1995-2018)
—Soil
—Soils and rowings (MTK)
The merging and analysis of the data has been done at 8 hinds, the result: 8 m raster flood occurrence of potential sites in river and sea flood areas
