Public transport exchange points and connection parking in Pirkanmaa — study data 2015

The data includes a proposal for a target space produced in the Pirkanmaa Connection Parking Development Survey on the locations of the main connection parking and exchange places in 2040. The presentation of the locations of major connection parking and exchange points was prepared in cooperation with the Pirkanmaa Federation, authorities and stakeholders. The study looked at the current state of the Pirkanmaa junction parking and assessed the impact of the connection parking on the operation of the transport system. The main objective was to support the process of drawing up the Pirkanmaa Regional Plan 2040 by highlighting the needs and objectives for the coordination of different modes of transport. The Pirkanmaa junction parking sites were divided into three different types of area depending on the position of the area relative to the target state of the transport system. Type A areas are regionally significant, mainly related to rail transport. B-type areas are locally significant. Type C areas are smaller areas of the road network related to bus transport. There is also a presentation of the location of the main public transport exchange points (V) in the county. In the target situation of 2040, Pirkanmaa has about 100 access parking areas, with a total of approximately 4,000 parking spaces. Based on this report, the Pirkanmaa regional plan of 2040 presented the most important parking areas and public transport exchange points in the region.
