Regionally valuable landscape areas of Pirkanmaa 2013

The data contains inventory data for landscape areas of Pirkanmaa provincial value. The inventory was carried out in connection with the preparation of the 2040 Pirkanmaa regional plan. The Pirkanmaa Federation was responsible for the survey and the inventory was carried out by ProAgria Etelä-Suomi. The inventory forms and appendix map of the survey report show the natural values of the landscape area, the age of the building stock and land use. The aim of the inventory was to comprehensively map out the typical and characteristic landscape features of the region of Pirkanmaa. The valuable landscape complexes are homogeneous, large area, intact and harmonious and often varied. The landscape areas reflect the special quality of the county and tell about the region’s cultural and natural history. The inventory of the provincial landscape areas reviewed the range of areas, the value category and the delimitation to reflect the renewed implementation and control systems of landscape management. The inventories focused on the cultural landscapes of the countryside, in particular on farmland and other landscapes generated by primary production. The study of cities was limited. The sites representing the built environment have been identified in a separate inventory and in the regional plan report. The nationally and provincially valuable landscape areas of Pirkanmaa were invented simultaneously in 2012-2013. The areas proposed as nationally valuable areas are presented in a separate publication and as a spatial dataset.
