Responses to the Helsinki and Vantaa environmental attitude survey

In spring 2017, the cities of Helsinki and Vantaa carried out a survey to survey residents’ perceptions and attitudes regarding the state of the environment, environmental protection and the development of the city. The survey was directed to a random sample of the population aged 18 to 74 in Helsinki and Vantaa. In Helsinki, the sample size was 3,000 and in Vantaa 2,000 persons. In addition, the probability of picking within Vantaa was slightly different in different areas. The dataset contains a variable “area weight”, which can be used to compensate for different picking probabilities. This should be used if the analysis is carried out in such a way that the respondents in Vantaa are involved. If the analysis is carried out solely on the respondents in Helsinki, this is not necessary. For data protection reasons, the answers in question series 2 have been removed as well as from the respondent’s background information on gender, income level, household size, leisure accommodation and autonomy data.
