Dataset description

The data includes monitoring data collected during the FinEst Smart Mobility project (5.4.2018-15.3.2019) on passenger ships operating between Helsinki’s West Harbour and the Port of Tallinn, Finlandia, Star, Megastar and Silja Europa. The data includes vessel position, speed, direction, scheduled departure and arrival times (scheduled), actual departure and arrival times (actual) and predicted slots (estimated). The data is based on data from the then Finnish Transport Agency’s Digitraffic AIS service and it has been combined with Eckerölinen and Tallink-Silja timetable data as well as schedule monitoring and forecasting data developed by Fleetrange Oy in the project. The data covers a total of 4,388 Helsinki-Tallinn or Tallinn-Helsinki trips and approximately 14 million data points over 339 days. The spatial data is in WGS84 format (dd.ddddd). All times are UTC time. The character set of the CSV file is UTF-8. **The dataset contains the following information** — ID: database table line identifier — updated: update time for that line — ship: name of the ship — IMO: IMO number of the vessel — Lat: latitude (dd.dddd) — long: longitude (ddd.dddd) — SOG: Speed Over Ground — COG: Course Over Ground — HDG: Heading, or forward direction — depPort: port of departure UNLOCODE EETLL or FIHEL — etdSchedule: scheduled departure time of the shipping company — ETD: Time of departure predicted by FinEstAPI — ATD: Actual time of departure of the ship — arrPort: port of arrival UNLOCODE EETLL or FIHEL — etaSchedule: scheduled arrival time — ETA: predicted arrival time — ATA: actual time of arrival
