Separation transformer

In exchange heating, the separation transformer feeds the heating elements in the gear. Separation transformers are used to convert the supply voltage to suit the heating resistors and to separate the secondary components of the transformer galvanically from the primary and the ground ponthetial. For device spaces inputs, a separation transformer means a transformer that is connected between the public network and the device space (or lighting) so that the device space or its equipment or lamps are not galvanically connected, even via the PE conductor, to the public electrical distribution network. Separation transformers prevent the rail potential of the track train fleet and, in the event of failure, the rail potential caused by a failure, from being transferred to the general electricity distribution network. The position of the separation transformer shall be indicated. The material covers railways owned by the Finnish Transport Agency.
