Small runoff areas of the City of Turku

The demarcation of Turku’s small runoff areas is based on studies made as background data for formulating and stormwater management. Small runoff areas describe areas demarcated by soil surface forms (dividers) from which surface water flows up to Norway and ditches through the discharge point to larger streams or watercourses. The purpose of the demarcation has been to take into account the built embankments, ditch drums and stormwater drainage. Seaside areas are not delimited by many small river basins, but have been interpreted as a coherent catchment area near the coastal area.
