Softeners

The material covers railways owned by the Finnish Transport Agency. The source system of the data is the track object management application (RATKO) of the Track Infrastructure Management System (RATKO). The location of the soft rails is indicated in the register using the track number and the start and end points (km+m). The position tracks indicate the track signs in accordance with the track record system on which the soft rail is located. The mileage system of the soft rail register is a km-system used in track planning, based on the locations of the km poles measured in the terrain. Km+m data is always related to the length measurement track. This is an indication of the length measurement system. The starting and end points of the softener are defined by a geotechnical expert. Initial and downstream mileage data shall be reported in the format 0123+ 0456.
