The Member States of the European Union report to the Commission every six years on the implementation of the Habitats Directive. The report includes an assessment of the conservation status of all habitats and species covered by the Directive. The assessment of the conservation status for the years 2001-2006 was carried out in 2007, 2007-2012 in 2013 and 2013-2018 in 2019. Developments in the level of protection indicate, among other things, the effectiveness of the conservation measures taken.
Species, reporting under the Habitats Directive 2019 includes one spatial data set:
— Species occurrences, reporting on the Habitats Directive 2019
Species, reporting under the Habitats Directive in 2013 includes two spatial data sets:
— Species occurrences, reporting of the Habitats Directive 2013
— Species distribution, reporting on the Habitats Directive 2013
The report shall contain, for each species, information on the assessment criteria on the basis of which an overall assessment of the conservation status has been made. The assessment criteria include distribution, location, structure and functioning and expected evolution of conservation status. In the 2019 reporting, species distribution was no longer reported.
Four categories are used to assess the level of protection:
— favourable;
—unfavourable insufficient;
—unfavourable;
it’s not known.
In addition, a trend indicator has been used which is deteriorating, stable, improving or unknown.
The data are part of the reporting data submitted to the EU Commission. The data include information on species for which the report is accompanied by a map and whose data is not protected. Data for 2013 can be found in full https://www.eionet.europa.eu/etcs/etc-bd/activities/reporting/article-17/outcomes-2007-2012

Reporting of Habitats Directive, Species
Member states report the implementation of Habitats Directive (Directive 92/43/EEC) to EU every six years. The report includes evaluation of conservation status of species and habitats. Efficiency of protection measures can be deduced from the report.
The data from the 2013 reporting contains both range and distribution of the species. The data from the 2019 reporting contains only range of the species.
The data are part of the reporting material submitted to the EU Commission. The spatial data are based on the presence of the species on a 10 km x 10 km map screen. The presence of the species on the map screen has been confirmed by experts.
