Suitable locations for solar panels in the metropolitan area. The data shows potential locations for the deployment of solar panels.
The material shows suitable locations for solar panels. The part of the roof is suitable for solar panels if it receives radiation of more than 847 kWh/m²/year, the surface area receiving sufficient uniform radiation is at least 5 m² and the distance from the roof edge is more than 0.5 m.
The downloadable material has two levels, as raster suitable locations for solar panels (useful_areas.tif) and a shp file (useful_area_sise.shp) with characteristics of the areaSUM that is suitable for the solar panels of the roof in question.
The modelling of solar radiation energy is based on point cloud data, which, depending on the region, date from 2008 to 2013.
The data was completed in the Decumanus project and was produced by Eurosense, a Belgian company specialising in spatial information services.
The data can be viewed and downloaded in [HSY’s open map service](https://kartta.hsy.fi/?zoomLevel=5&coord=25496558_6673000&mapLayers=106+100+aurinkosahko_paneeli_polygoni_tyyli&showMarker=true).
