Dataset description

Description The annual average concentration of PM10. The limit value for the annual average is 40µg/m³. The 2013 air quality report of the City of Tampere modelled the combined effects of car traffic, energy production and industrial emissions on air quality. In the emission spread modelling, the area distribution curves drawn on the map indicate the concentration that may be exceeded from time to time in the areas inside the curve. However, the spatial distribution diagrams do not always present a uniform situation in time, but the highest values of concentrations can appear at different calculation points at different times during the year, depending on wind direction and mixing conditions. Report on the website: the report also modelled the forecast situation for 2030. The baseline data used are from 2011. The modelling was carried out with an AERMOD model that takes into account, for example, the shape of the terrain, the atmospheric change of nitrogen oxides and the ratio of NO2/NOx in emissions, as well as background concentrations in hourly or daily concentrations. The distribution of emissions and the formation of ambient air concentrations were examined in a set of observation points every 25-200 metres. Background concentrations have been taken into account from the measurements of the Hyytiälä research station at the University of Helsinki in 2009-2011. Emissions factors from VTT’s LIPASTO database have been used for NOx and direct particulate emissions (PM2.5) from road transport and applied, among other things, the emissions factors for dust (PM10 and PM2.5) presented in the THL PILTTI project. The source data for emissions sources from industry and energy production were obtained from operators.
