Jobs in Helsinki (employed in the region) by industry (TOL 2008, 2-3) as of 31 December 2008. Includes data on working (jobs) in the area as of 31 December 2008 by industry. ##Regional Limits Regional boundaries according to the district division system of Helsinki. ##Data source Statistics Finland employment statistics. The data are inferred from administrative and statistical registers and other datasets. ##Target and cropping The number of people employed in the area, regardless of their place of residence, is used as a measure of the number of jobs. People working in the area make up the so-called ‘worked day’ population. A person’s field of activity is determined by the industry of his/her workplace. All employees in the same establishment receive the same industry regardless of their occupation. The economic activity of the workplace is determined for each establishment and self-employed in accordance with Statistics Finland’s industrial classification. The employed labour force includes all persons aged 18 to 74 who were gainfully employed in the last week of the year and were not unemployed job seekers at the TE Office or performing conscripts or civilian service. The information on employment is based on the data of the earnings-related pension and tax authorities. The Industrial Classification is in accordance with Statistics Finland’s Industrial Classification (TOL) 2008 ##Update frequency Every year. The letter level will be updated in January and the numerical level (2-3) will be updated in June.
