Dataset description
The General Finnish Thesaurus (YSA) is a monolingual general vocabulary covering all fields of science and knowledge, which brings together the most common terminology in different fields.
The general Finnish vocabulary is intended to be used for indexing books, articles, electronic materials and other types of material, as well as for information retrieval. The vocabulary helps data savers and data seekers to use a common language. It is also intended to serve as a basic vocabulary for the drafting of specialised vocabulary in different fields.
The vocabulary has been prepared in accordance with the Finnish-language thesaurus guidelines (SFS 5471).
YSA’s development has been discontinued in May 2019. The new terms will then be added only to General Finnish ontology YSO.
