Dataset description

ZES zoning is zoning provided for in repealed regulations relating to nitrate action programmes (European Directive). The SEZs (Structural Surplus Zones) were based on cantonal boundaries in order to set constraints for the limitation of application and flocks on farms, as well as obligations to reduce their organic nitrogen surpluses. These provisions were repealed by the Fifth Nitrate Directive Action Programme. The zonings are however kept to identify the municipalities previously located on these perimeters. Farms located in municipalities previously located in SEZs producing more than 2 000 kg of organic nitrogen continue to be subject to constraints to reduce their surpluses. These ZES perimeters are part of the Reinforced Action Zone (ZAR) created by the prefectural decree of 14 March 2014.
