Canton within the meaning of INSEE — Hautes-Pyrénées

C' is the electoral district in which a general councillor is elected. The cantons were created, like the departments, by the Act of 22 December 1789. In most cases, the cantons encompass several municipalities. But the cantons do not always respect the municipal boundaries: in the most populated municipalities, several cantons are defined. __Origin__ These cantons are those that entered into force in 2015, in accordance with Decree No. 2014-242 of 25 February 2014. Canton generated by agglomeration of the constituent municipalities within the meaning of INSEE, with the introduction of infra-communal cuttings for municipalities in several cantons.
