Dataset description

Vector layer of municipalities (INSEE 2021) with their statistics of continuity values and potential habitat cores for 12 mammal species in Brittany. In each commune and for each species (listed with the first 3 letters of the genus and the first 3 letters of the species GenEsp), the following fields are entered: — average continuity value of the communal territory (ContGenEsp) — a synthesis field of aggregated and weighted continuity for the 12 species is also proposed (Cont_Mamm), — cumulative area of potential habitat cores (GenEsp_Ha) in hectares — relative importance of potential habitat cores of the commune (Hab_GenEsp), determined by the following formula: communal share of Brittany’s total habitat cores/community share of the regional area. This value is indexed as low (1) if there are fewer habitat cores in the commune than on average in the region, rather high (2) if it is between 1 and 2, strong (3) if it is between 2 and 4, and very strong (4) if it is at least 4 times higher than that regional average. This data is an element of the “Trame Mammiferères de Bretagne” (TMB) tool designed to enable the integration of the ecological continuity of mammals into the Green and Blue Trames and take them into account in all public policies, spatial planning, projects and actions likely to affect these species or their habitats.
