Dataset description

This hydrodynamic observation campaign was carried out following several green algae grounding events in 2018 on the coastal fringe of the Gouaro — Deva sector. The Ifremer, IRD and BRGM have therefore joined forces to set up, on behalf of the Southern Province, a monitoring programme whose objectives were: Quantifying and discriminating against the enrichment pathways of Poé’s lagoon that may induce the proliferation of primary producers in this sector. — Propose decision support tools to anticipate or control the recurrence of the phenomenon. The full dataset represents 6 months of acquisition (between February 2019 and May 2019 and between July 2019 and September 2019). This strategy covered part of the 2018-2019 cyclone season, including a major meteorological phenomenon (Cyclone Oma). Fixed instruments for continuous measurements were placed inside and outside the lagoon (pressure/temperature sensors, thermosalinographs, ADCP, inclinometers). This data will be used to calibrate the hydrodynamic models (MARS3D) developed by UR LEAD (Lagons, Ecosystems and Sustainable Aquaculture in New Caledonia) as part of the project.
