Dataset description

Since 2019, a Territorial Strategy for the Prevention of Mountain Risks (StePRiM) has been an approach implemented by communities or their groups to manage mountain hazards according to all the pillars of prevention of natural hazards. This approach, after labelling, is a contract between the State and the local authorities, in particular to display the actions carried out by the communities which can benefit from grants from the Fund for the Prevention of Major Natural Hazards (FPRNM). The integrated mountain risk management resulting from STePRiM aims to reduce the harmful consequences of these events on human health, property, economic activities and the environment. The natural hazards that can be taken into account in a STePRiM approach are floods, whatever their nature, terrain movements, avalanches, earthquakes, forest fires... These hazards can be taken into account in particular with regard to the melting of ice and the evolution of permafrost and their consequences called “glacial and periglacial risks”. The current specifications for the StePRiM call for projects, carried out by the Ministry responsible for the prevention of natural hazards, are available on the website of DREAL PACA and on the website of the Ministry responsible for risk prevention by clicking on this link (in force in January 2021).
