Dataset description

According to PA n°2020-7849 of 17 December 2020 These areas are defined by prefectural order in the light of indications of presence or attacks. The amended Decree of 19 June 2009 on the operation of environmental protection in rural areas concerning the protection of herds against predation specifies the details of this action. The following are differentiated: — areas where predation on the domestic herd has been recorded one or more times in the last two years, called the ‘first circle’; — areas where prevention actions are needed due to the possible occurrence of wolf predation during the current year, called the “second circle”. In order to limit attacks on domestic herds and to help breeders likely to face predatory presence, enhanced guarding, night grouping of animals and use of protective dogs is accessible in areas of risk defined annually by prefectural decree (measure 323 c1 of the hexagonal rural development programme). The level of this aid and the related commitments depend on the size of the herd and the duration of grazing in the eligibility area. (previous AP reminder = AP n°2019-7337 of 23 December 2019)
