Dataset description

This dataset contains the location of the municipalities (surface objects) concerned by a candidate town centre or winners during the call for expressions of interest (AMI) in 2014, in New Aquitaine. The presence of dynamic and lively town centres in rural or peri-urban areas is a guarantee of quality of life, social cohesion and local economic development for the inhabitants of the territories concerned. On the basis of this observation, the Government has decided to assist local authorities and to give them keys for reflection and tools to act on the devitalisation of town centres with less than 10,000 inhabitants, by setting up an experimental programme aimed at: — rural municipalities which are experiencing a demographic decline, or a weakening of their centrality functions (supply of services, market and economic activities in general, etc.), and which are confronted with a devitalisation of their centre, possibly accompanied by the development of outlying pavilion areas; — the municipalities won by periurbanisation, which have increased the demand for housing, equipment and services and could serve as an anchor for a better controlled peri-urban development.
