Service WFS - La moule perlière est devenue une espèce protégée par la loi française depuis l’Arrêté du 7 octobre 1992 et le Décret n°99-615 du 7 juillet 1999. Elle est également inscrite aux annexes II et V de la Directive « Habitats-Faune-Flore » et à l’annexe III de la convention de Berne. En 2010, la liste rouge de l’UICN la classe dans la catégorie "endangered" (menacée, en voie d’extinction). Elle est en effet considérée comme faisant face à un très grand risque d’extinction à l’état sauvage dans un avenir proche.
