Les poissons migrateurs amphihalins appartiennent à des espèces qui sont dans l'obligation de se déplacer entre les eaux douces et la mer afin de réaliser complètement leur cycle biologique.
Toutes ces espèces se reproduisent en rivière et grossissent en mer sauf l'anguille qui fait exactement le contraire et se reproduit en mer des Sargasses.
