Location of Class A, B, C and D Aquitaine Dams. Data compiled from the Hydraulic Works Information System (SIOUH). The Hydraulic Works Information System (SIOUH) is aimed primarily at the safety control services of hydraulic structures, in order to help them monitor the application of the regulations introduced with the issuance of Decree No 2007-1735. There are 4 classes of dams: — class A: h >= 20 m — class B: not class A and h >= 10 m and h² x V½ >= 200 (V volume of retention) — class C: not class A or B and h >= 5 m and h² x V½ >= 20 — class D: h >= 2 m and neither A, B, nor C NB. h is, in metres, the height of the dam above the natural terrain and V is the volume of the reservoir in millions of m³ (cube meters).
