Dataset description

Feeding surface of a watercourse or body of water. The catchment area is defined as the water collection area, considered from an outlet: it is bounded by the contour within which all water flows on the surface and underground to this outlet. Its boundaries are water-sharing lines. In addition to the watersheds defined in the Carthage BD repository on the basis of the reference watersheds, procedures (e.g. control basins defined by drought protocols) or the specific needs of the services (e.g. river basins or watersheds upstream of a water intake) may lead them to create dedicated watersheds, known as “specific watersheds” or “use watersheds” associated with particular points. These sub-basins are described in this layer.
