Dataset description

The Territorial Forest Charters are established by Article L12 of the Forest Guidance Act (LOF) of 9 July 2001. Their aim is to develop the link between the economic, social and cultural development of a forest area. Following the Law on the Modernisation of Agriculture and Fisheries of 27 July 2010, the Territorial Forest Charters are now linked to the local forest development strategies (SLDF). The Forest Land Charter is a tool for the sustainable development and management of rural areas that further integrate forests into their economic, social and environmental environments, thereby deterring the multifunctional role of forests at the local level. It aims to meet specific local expectations (economic, ecological, social and cultural) while taking into account the objectives and constraints of forest owners, public and private. It is a contractual tool, implemented on the initiative of local actors. It is based on a concerted approach between the stakeholders involved in the forest and the timber sector in the territory, offerers (owners and forest managers) and applicants (all audiences: local residents, users, socio-professionals, communities, forest owners) of forest goods and services. It takes effect with the implementation of a multiannual action programme. More details at: http://www.draaf.languedoc-roussillon.agriculture.gouv.fr/Chartes-forestieres-de-territoire
