Dataset description

The IRDP is a genuine tool for the development and promotion of routes and must meet the following objectives: • Protect rural paths and rural heritage, • Create a coherent, homogeneous, sustainable and quality network adapted to the practice of equestrian, hiking and mountain biking, • Promote the discovery of natural sites and rural landscapes and thus offer a plural and quality offer which is part of the local tourism and economic development; • Develop the cultural dimension of the paths and thus contribute to the cohesion of the territories they irrigate. All types of paths, regardless of their status, are likely to be included in the PDIPR. The June 2012 by-law classified each itinerary by interest as follows: • Departmental: the itineraries forming the backbone of the Plan by helping to maintain the link to the territories and to serve as a support for discovery and exchanges (large hiking and country hiking paths), • Local: small and medium-sized hiking routes that promote the preservation of rural heritage and offer the possibility of walks. Since the adoption of the plan in December 2013 and its update in March 2018, the Department has been asked to extend it to various creation and rehabilitation projects. These projects have been the subject of a study and consultation between the various actors, namely territories, intercommunities, municipalities and hiking associations. The new update of the Plan proposed to you here was adopted by the Departmental Assembly in session on 25 May 2021. It now comprises 3 378 km of protected roads, comprising 484 hiking routes spread over 424 municipalities including: • 8 great hiking itineraries • 3 great country hiking itineraries • 473 small hiking routes
