Dataset description

The dataset contains the perimeters of the vulnerable areas of the administrative district of the Rhine-Meuse basin. Vulnerable areas are the lands designated in accordance with Article 3(2) of European Directive 91-676, the objectives of which are: — reduce water pollution caused or induced by nitrates from agricultural sources, — and prevent any new pollution of this type. Vulnerable areas are areas affected by pollution and those susceptible to pollution; be if the measures provided for in the Directive in its Article 5 are not taken. Each zone s'' extends over a geographical area that covers all or part of the territory of?#x27;' one or more municipalities. The list of vulnerable areas is drawn up under the responsibility of the Ministry in charge of the Environment (definition from: Ash, administrative reference 1997) Additional information about the dataset can be accessed from the &quot section; Dataset Files; the metadata sheet.
